We are very sorry to announce that the quotes of Prof. Dr. Alexander Libman that appeared in the ZDF program Berlin Direkt on March 5 were shortened and put into a wrong context in such a way that their meaning was completely changed. In the broadcast, Prof. Libman's statements were presented as if he believed that sanctions against Russia were a suitable instrument to stop the war in Ukraine, but that all that was needed was patience. The thesis of the original interview, however, was the opposite: sanctions do indeed have an economic effect primarily in the long term, but precisely for this reason they are not a suitable instrument for stopping the war.
