Der Ukrainekrieg und die Krise des russischen Staates (1979-2015)

Der Vortrag diskutiert die Beziehung zwischen russischer Innenpolitik - der Machtsicherung der herrschenden Eliten - und dem Krieg in der Ukraine. Außerdem wird erläutert, in welcher Beziehung der Krieg im Donbas zu den sowjetischen und post-sowjetischen Kriegen in Afghanistan und Tschetschenien steht. Abschließend wird die Frage gestellt, wie physische Gewalt und autoritäre Herrschaft die postsowjetische Epoche geprägt haben.

Zum Referenten:

Jan C. Behrends is an associate professor of new and Eastern-European history at the Freien Universität Berlin and the Humboldt Universität Berlin. He has published numerous essays on topics such as the question of propaganda and public space in dictatorships, on the legitimation of statehood in the 20th century, on physical violence and the comparison of metropolises, such as his book "Povsednevnaja žizn' pri socializme. Nemeckie i rossiiskie podchody (Everyday life in Socialism. German and Russian Convergences)", which he published with Vera Dubina and Andrej Sorokin. He has been addressing the war in the Ukraine and the crisis of the Russian state in many publications since 2014. Behrends is a member of the German Association for East European Studies (DGO), the Association for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) and the German Historian Association.
