Chair: Julia Glathe (Freie Universität Berlin)

Five years after Euromaidan, students at FU Berlin have been exploring the creative scene in the Ukrainian capital. In their multimedia project Kak Dela Kyiv, they show how artists and fashion designers, DJs, writers and journalists are finding their own paths and using their talents to transform their city. They join curator and publisher Kateryna Mishchenko to discuss new forms of identity in Ukraine and reframing Ukrainian youth at a time of upheaval.

Kak dela Kyiv is one of several projects that emerged within the interdisciplinary interest-based seminar "Conflict and Cooperation in Eastern Europe" at the Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin.

Jana Antonissen is a journalist with a fascination for stories and what’s behind them. Born in Belgium, she mostly writes for De Morgen and Humo.

Julia Glathe is a researcher at the Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin. Her research focuses on the development and conflict dynamics of the Russian migration policy.

Kateryna Mishchenko is a Ukrainian writer, publisher and curator. She co-authored the book "Ukrainian Night" (with Miron Zownir).

Nadja Scherff lives in Berlin and is currently completing a Master’s programme in Urban Geography at Humboldt University. She sees culture as a catalyst for the development of urban spaces.
