Klaus Segbers is Professor of Political Science, Head of the Political Science Division at the Institute for East European Studies at Freie Universität Berlin and Head of the Center for Global Politics. His research interests include International Relations, Eastern Europe and International Politics.
The twentieth century in Russia's history and the effects of the Russian Revolution of 1917 in this period are the subject of a public series of lectures in winter semester 2016/2017 at Freie Universität. Scientists from Germany and abroad first dedicate their contributions to the revolution itself and the events that precede it. In the latter part of the series they will examine the aspects of Soviet modernization and its consequences until the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s and the return of authoritarianism in the 21st century. The series of lectures will be jointly organized by the Eastern Europe Institute of the Freie Universität Berlin (OEI) and the Center for Eastern European and International Studies (ZOIS).
The public lecture by Prof. Dr. Segbers will be held in German. All events of the series are public, admission is free.
For an overview of the series see the programme flyer.
