Melike Demir studied industrial engineering at the Bilkent University in Ankara and completed her master’s in economics at the Humboldt University in Berlin. She also worked as a student assistant at the Institute for Economic History at the Humboldt University. Her research currently focuses on economic history as well as economic development. In her doctorate, she examines the influence of historical events such as displacement and ethnic diversity as well as ideological strategies on economic development. She primarily deals with Turkey and Eastern Europe.
