PE-EECA (Political Ecology in Eastern Europe and Central Asia) mailing list
This is a mailing list for researchers and practitioners in political ecology, environmental geography, nature and society, and rural, agrarian, and food (system) studies with a regional focus on Central, South-Eastern, and Eastern Europe, Central and Northern Asia, the Baltics, and the Caucasus (c.f. RUTA Association’s regional framing). Despite their importance, issues of environmental change and environmental politics and their interrelationship with food production and land use tend to remain marginal in historical, geographical, and anthropological studies devoted to these regions. In this context, the list aims to bring together researchers working on environmental and agrarian issues to make connections, share ideas and calls, and work together to build a more coordinated and visible field of area-focused research.
While the geographical scope of the list is intentionally broad and "inclusive", list members are expected to be sensitive to issues related to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine and other issues related to current and historical inequality, domination, and power in the wider region.
