Discussion event on the popular uprising on 17 June 1953

To what extent was East Berlin the centre of the uprising? Can the uprising be reduced to that day and the GDR at all? What was the impact of the international context, especially the policies of the Soviet Union? What role did the uprising play in the culture of remembrance of the two German states and the reunited Germany?
