Information for first-semester students

Welcome to Institute for Eastern European Studies!

Please take advantage of all information offered so that you have the most successful start to your master's degree. The master coordinator Sabine Pag is available for advice via email, in the office (Garystr. 55, room 218) or via Webex.

On Monday, October 9, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. (for the presentation), the FU Language Center provided information. Here you can find out everything you need to know about completing the mandatory language module, including the placement tests and registration procedures. Margarita Maximova also presented the international section and provided information about the various exchange opportunities. Take this opportunity to start thinking about a semester abroad! Finally, the AStA presented its work.

On Thursday, 12th October 2023, at 10:00 a.m., the introduction to the master's program in Eastern European Studies for first semester students took place in lecture hall A of the Eastern European Institute:

  • The course of study is explained.
  • The work areas introduce themselves.
  • Students report on their experiences and give tips.
  • The library of the Eastern European Institute offers guided tours.

At the beginning of your studies at the OEI, the OEI student council initiative and the student representatives in the institute council would like to invite you to two events to get to know your fellow students and the FU campus.

Friday, October 20, 2023, 12:00 p.m.: Campus tour, meeting point in front of the Eastern European Institute (Garystr. 55) followed by a joint visit to the cafeteria.
Friday, October 27th, 2023, 7:00 p.m.: Bar evening in Bajszel (Emser Str. 8).
The Free University of Berlin also provides general information for newly enrolled students.
