Public lecture with Irina Sirotkina (Moscow): Dance, kinaesthesia and Russian Avant-garde

This lecture is a part of the public lecture series „The rhythmical drum of the avant-garde“ at the Peter Szondi-Institute for Comparative Literature and the Eastern European Institute, Freie Universität Berlin.

Dr. Irina Sirotkina
is a researcher at the Russian Academy of Sciences, Institute for the History of Science and Technology.
In addition to her numerous publications on the history of psychology and to her research in literature, art history, reflexology, psycho-technique and work sciences („Central Institute of Work", A. Gastev) of the early Soviet Union, she is most known for her fundamental research concerning the Rhythmists’ circles and expressionist dance movement in Russia between 1900 to 1930 ("Plastičeskoe dviženie i plastičeskij tanec", Moscow 2012).
Her most recent monograph explores the significance of dance and movement for poets and artists of the avant-garde ("Šestoe čuvstvo avangarda: Tanec, dviženie, kinestezija v žizni poėtov i chudožnikov", St. Petersburg 2014).
