The exchange program between Freie Universität Berlin and the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University, provides selected candidates with the opportunity to study for one or two semesters at the Elliott School. The two-semester exchange is a full-degree program and will be conducted in the framework of the Elliott School's Master of International Studies.

In cooperation with the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), Free University Berlin, Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Potsdam offer a double-degree Master's program in International Relations (MA IB - MGIMO). Students enrolled in the double-degree program spend the first year of their studies in Berlin/Potsdam and the second year in Moscow, working towards a German and a Russian Master's Degree at the same time.
The chair of Political Science of the Institute for East European Studies is committed to acquire funding for the organization of research projects from various sponsors, like the Volkswagen Foundation, DAAD or the Alexander von Humbold-Foundation (AvH).
