This week, Prof. Dr. Panayotis Tsakonas visited the Center for Global Politics and the Institute for East European Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin for a research stay.

Prof. Dr. Tsakonas is a Professor for International Relations, Security Studies and Foreign Policy Analysis at the Department of Mediterranean Studies at the University of the Aegean in Rhodes.

During his stay, he gave two talks, one on forced migration in the Mediterranean and one on “Greek-Turkish Relations. Assessing the Past, Anticipating the Future”. In addition, he visited a seminar of Prof. Segbers and gave an input presentation to one session. During the talks and the discussions afterwards, the current crisis in Greece and the position of the Greek government has been addressed many times.

The CGP team has been very happy to welcome Prof. Tsakonas and hopes to strengthen the institutional cooperation between him and his Department in the near future.
