Organized in 1992 by a group of enthusiasts in music, theatre and arts, the main goal of the Z. Shahidi-foundation was to empower the culture of peace in Tajikistan during civil war. In 1997, the foundation was among those of the civil society who signed the Agreement of Reconciliation, which brought peace to Tajikistan. The foundation’s main tools: music, poetry and theatre attracted the attention of a number of institutions and universities in Central Asia and beyond.
In this presentation the achievements, goals and further plannings of the Z. Shahidi in the context of recent Tajikistani history and culture will be addressed.
