Two Russian artists Nastya Kuzmina and Tatiana Efrussi will show and discuss their video works at the Institute of East European Studies. Discussion will be moderated by Elena Vogman.
Both artists belong to the first post-soviet generation and share the common state of frustration. Artists of this generation do not perceive their visual and informational environment as something natural or comfortable. Nastya Kuzmina and Tatiana Efrussi work differently with this sense of heterogeneity. Nastya approaches the environment on a sensual level, almost «palpating» the space and observing breaks, holes, hitches in the daily life around her. Tatiana conducts an imaginary guided tour around this reality, using a collage of knowledge and fantasies about the soviet past, recent, but unimaginable.
Nastya Kuzmina – born in Ulyanovsk, lives in Moscow. Graduated the Moscow Rodchenko school of Photography and Media. Works with video, photography, creates installations and performances.
Tatiana Efrussi – lives in Moscow and Berlin. Artist, architecture historian. Graduated the Moscow Rodchenko school of Photography and Media and the Moscow State University. Works with video, initiates collaborative projects.
