Die rhythmische Trommel. Revolutionäre Körper und revolutionäre Sprachen. Sprachen zwischen Organisation und Ekstase

by Professor Georg Witte, Head of the Division of Culture (OEI, Freie Universität Berlin)

The twentieth century in Russia's history and the effects of the Russian Revolution of 1917 in this period are the subject of a public series of lectures in winter semester 2016/2017 at Freie Universität. Scientists from Germany and abroad first dedicate their contributions to the revolution itself and the events that precede it. In the latter part of the series they will examine the aspects of Soviet modernization and its consequences until the collapse of the Soviet Union in the 1990s and the return of authoritarianism in the 21st century. The series of lectures will be jointly organized by the Eastern Europe Institute of the Freie Universität Berlin (OEI) and the Center for Eastern European and International Studies (ZOIS). The first lecture will be held by Prof. Georg Witte of Freie Universität Berlin.

Prof. Georg Witte has been professor of Slavic literatures and General and Comparative Literature at the Peter Szondi Institute of General and Comparative Literature since WS 2004. Prof. Witte is Head of the Culture Division at the Institute of East European Studies of the Freie Universität Berlin.

The public lecture by Prof. Witte takes place in German. All events of the series are public, admission is free.
