In Feminis Veritas: Feminist Solidarity Day with Ukraine

Aug 26, 2022 | 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM

ACUD Studio, Veteranenstraße 21, 10119 Berlin

On August 26th, In Feminis Veritas will be hosting a Solidarity Day with Ukraine in partnership with Vitsche and the Junge DGO. The Solidarity Day will focus on Ukraine and the impact the war has had on FLINTA* people.

Solidarity Day with Ukraine will be a multidisciplinary event, featuring both art and short-form panel discussions. The night will begin with a vernissage of the art exhibition and feature Ukrainian artists from our weekly Artist’s Spotlight campaign on Instagram. In a series of short-forum panel discussions we will discuss topics ranging from the role of women in the Ukrainian diaspora in creating solidarity movements to international law and the prosecution of wartime sexual violence. To close out the evening, there will be a live protest performance and musical guests.

Entrance to the event is free, however, we will be raising money for the Ukrainian feminist initiative СФЕРА (Sphere, Women Association), so all donations are welcome! Funds will also be collected through a silent auction of the pieces on display at the art exhibition, with half of the proceeds going to the artists themselves and the other half to СФЕРА.

In Feminis Veritas hopes to see you on August 26th!

About In Feminis Veritas

In Feminis Veritas: Feministische Osteuropa-Initiativ is a culture initiative that started as a student project for the Eastern European master’s program at the Free University in Berlin. The aim of the project was to create a forum which showcased female Eastern European artists, activists, and scholars, highlighting the current cultural and political issues in the region. Over the past three years, we’ve held two annual forums and are excited to be holding our third—Solidarity Day for Ukraine—at ACUD. Each of our annual forums has combined art and politics to invoke discourse on and support expression of women and feminism in Eastern Europe. Paramount to our initiative is the furthering of diverse and intersectional topics as well as individual artists, activists, and scholars.Since our founding, we’ve been fortunate enough to collaborate with a variety of Berlin-based Eastern European organizations, such as the German Association of Eastern European Studies, Quarteera, and X3. We are delighted to be partnering with Vitsche for this year’s event.
